What is Somatic Psychotherapy?

Understanding what to expect from your sessions

You’ve read the books. You’ve tried to think your way through it, but your body still feels heavy, tight, or on edge.

Maybe you’ve done talk therapy — and it helped — but something deeper still feels stuck.

This is where somatic psychotherapy and Embodied Processing come in.

What is Somatic Psychotherapy?

Somatic psychotherapy is a body-based approach to healing that recognises this simple truth:
We don’t just think about our experiences — we store them in our bodies.

When something overwhelming happens, and we can’t process it at the time, our body holds the tension.
In our muscles. Our breath. Our gut. Our nervous system.

Somatic therapy helps you gently tune into what your body is holding — to feel at your own pace, and process trauma without needing to explain or even fully understand it.

This approach doesn’t just focus on stories or diagnoses. It supports you in feeling safer inside yourself, so that healing can happen naturally.

What is Embodied Processing?

Embodied Processing (EP) is a form of somatic therapy that helps you meet your body’s stress responses with presence and compassion.

Here’s how it works:

  • We guide your attention inward — not to “figure it out,” but to feel what’s true for you right now.

  • You’re invited to sense what your body is holding onto. Often tension, emotion, or stuck energy.

  • With support, you’ll stay with the feeling long enough for your body to do what it couldn’t do before: release, integrate, and complete the cycle so you can stop repeating the same old patterns in life.

EP honours your body’s own timing. It’s not forced. There’s no performance. You don’t need to re-tell your trauma or explain why you feel the way you do.

Instead, you let your nervous system lead — and I’m right there beside you.

Why is this work so important?

Because so many of us have spent our lives trying to keep it all together — while feeling like a mess inside. We get stuck in the same patterns, catch ourselves thinking “how did I get here again” and feel frustrated that despite all our best efforts, we’re not where we want to be in life.

We’ve over-functioned, over-cared, over-thought — all while our body quietly held onto the pain, the freeze and the tension we didn’t have space to feel.

Somatic therapy gives you that space. It invites your system into safety and from there, change doesn’t just happen — it sticks.

This work is for you if...

  • You’re sensitive and self-aware but still feel like you’re carrying something you can’t name

  • You’ve done the mindset work, but your still reacting in ways you don’t want to be

  • You long to feel calm, soft, steady — but you don’t know how

  • You daydream about something bad happening to you like a mild car crash, not because you want to be hurt, but just so you can take a break or be cared for

  • You want to feel safer and more confident in your body, your relationships, and your life

  • You’re tired of managing, performing and holding it all

  • Something in you feels ready to stop holding your breath and finally exhale

You don’t need to be fixed. You need to be met with compassion and connect with what’s happening in your body.

This work offers that.
