INSPIRATION
The inspiration to paint these 2 mannequin bodies came to me shortly after receiving the news that my old landlord in Bali had passed away.
During my time living in Bali my identity really came undone and I left the jungle 4 years later having flourished within myself. I’m incredibly grateful for the kindness and generosity of the Balinese families who hosted and cared for me in this time of transition, particularly Santi and her husband Komang. I was very sad to hear of his passing and wanted to support his family in some way.
This piece is an exploration of the relationship between my two homes at the time, those being the jungle of Bali and my body.
